Children's Program (discontinued) October 2008 - Shirley Rivera & Peace Shirley Riviera led the kids through a wonderful program on Peace coinciding with International Peace Day on October 21, 2008. She taught them that peace comes from the inside and extend outwards. She also taught them how to make a talking stick that they can use to resolve conflict. The kids had a great time and made the most beautiful, colorful, bead-laden talking sticks!
Shirley Rivera has been an educator for over 30 years, including ten years as a counselor. Shirley was co-founder of Children’s Peace Camp-Hawaii, a weeklong day camp for children ages five-thirteen.
January - April 2008 - Khentrul Lodroe Thaye Rinpoche Our children raised the money to purchase toys, decorated them, and presented them to Khentrul Lodro Thaye Rinpoche for Tibetan children at Katog Choling Monastery. Ka’ohulani McGuire presented an extraordinary slideshow depicting the lives of children who live at the Monastery. Many thanks to Lisa Waters for her fine work.
